New Student Applications

Students interested in being in ASB...you need to submit one of the attached applications. There is one specifically for incoming 9th graders, and the other is for incoming 10th-12th graders.

9th graders will be 9th grade class officers.

10th-12th graders should consult this list of possible positions in next year's class:

Please read over the list of positions and decide which position interests you. Please note that ASB officer and class officers are elected positions - if you apply for one of those, I will send you more information about the election process (which will include campaign info, speeches, etc.). Commissioners do not need to go through an election - simply submit the application and you may be contacted for an interview or if more information is

Elected ASB positions - you must give a speech to all grades (9th, 10th, 11th ):

ASB President

Runs the ASB meetings. Is responsible for all members of ASB following through with their jobs. Works with adults and community members. Must have previous high school ASB experience.

ASB Vice President

Supports the ASB President in his/her duties.

Attends IGC and SSC meetings, or designates others to attend.

Secretary

Takes notes ("minutes") every day about what the class discusses.

Submits all minutes to finance office.

Oversees reimbursements and requisitions.

Commissioner

of Activities

Plans and supervises activities on campus including but not limited to: pep rallies, spirit weeks, etc.

Junior Class Vice President

Supports junior Class President in his/her duties

Junior Class Secretary/Treasurer

Keeps minutes of junior class meetings.

Works with Financial Secretary and Junior Class Advisor/parent volunteer to manage Junior class budget

Sophomore Class President

Serves as the representative of the Sophomore class

Helps with sophomore class Homecoming float, and 10th grade fundraising

Sophomore Class Secretary/Treasurer

Commissioners: No speeches/elections/running for office is needed! Qualified applicants may be interviewed by a panel of staff members and current and incoming ASB students.

Athletics

Publicizes sports activities on campus.

Plans campus tournaments (handball, soccer, etc.)

Plans the Powder Puff football game.

Plans and runs sports pep rallies, with the help of the Commissioner of Activities.

Campus Beautification

At least twice a week, spend a portion of 4th period cleaning the campus - to involve removing old posters, old tape, picking up trash, etc.

At least twice a year, plan campus beatification days.

In charge of making sure recycling bins are emptied into recycling dumpsters as needed - these are located in room 405 and in the main office mail room.

Clubs

Keeps track of club paperwork.

Works with clubs to put on the Club Fair.

Ensures that club presidents understand proper procedures.

Community Service/Employment

Maintain the job board outside of the counseling office.

Serve as the contact for local businesses and people looking to hire students for employment, internships, or community service and volunteer opportunities

Lunchtime Activities

Oversee spirit week activities, music, and games, with the help of the Commissioner of Activities

Create weekly playlists for Friday music

Oversee other lunch activities as needed

New Family Orientation

Be the contact person for people seeking tours.

Keep track of who is coming for tours when, and schedule students to give tours.

Train students to give tours

Conduct tours as needed.

Schedule campus tours at least monthly, possibly more frequently second semester.

Photographer

Photographs ASB events

Loads pictures on flash drive to be uploaded to web page by advisor

Philanthropy

Manages, organizes, and runs blood drives, food drives, Adopt-a-Family, and any other charitable activity that the ASB undertakes

Publicity

Publicizes school events with posters, flyers, bulletin announcements and e-mails

Directs all ASB members in the making of posters and flyers.

Verifies poster making among all ASB members.

Communicate with campus secretary to ensure ASB events are publicized in the bulletin.

Maintain current information on the marquee.

Spirit/Mascot

Works as Pointer mascot at specified games and events.

Organizes spirit point collection during spirit weeks.

In charge of planning and organizing ASB bonding events.

Assist Commissioner of Activities in planning and executing pep rallies
